Olympic Torch relay

Evening all,

We have had an exciting morning as the Olympic Torch Relay passed by locally.

It was exciting that this historic event was happening so close to home but then yesterday it was announced that the pop group The Wanted would be carrying the torch along part of the route.

The girls were very keen to see them so Hubby was out early this morning driving along the route before the roads were closed to see if he could find out where their section would be. A stretch lined with crash barriers was a bit of a give away lol !
We had a fair while to wait and at times it poured down

Although with good British community spirit  a householder along the route invited us to shelter under their gazebo. Thankfully it was nothing like the storm we had on Thursday. OMG that was torrential, it was darker at 10 o'clock in the morning than it was at 10 o'clock that night and there was lots of local flooding.
Anyway by the time the torch came  by the sun was shining.......

The Coca Cola bus came first...............
as you can see this is not a highly populated stretch- don't think the barriers were really necessary !
Then the boys  the girls were waiting for............

and a view of that famous flame

and then a paddle back up the lane through the remains of Thursday's downpour

Hope you've enjoyed my quick summary of our little piece of history, definitely one to be added to the scrapbook !

Back next time with something crafty, enjoy your weekend whatever you're up to x

Wednesday 27 June 2012

Evening all, and quite a nice evening it is too.

I like Wednesdays because it's class day and it always proves to be entertaining.

Some times we put the world to rights but today it was more like a book club. I'm sure some of you will be able to guess which book was the hot topic of conversation but I must lead a very sheltered life because I didn't know about Fifty shades of Grey. A few of the ladies were at various stages of the trilogy and the rest of us were just curious lol ! Hope the toddler class next door couldn't hear the conversation ! As the saying goes 'you learn something new every day' lol !

We did actually make some cards between the innuendos.........

Vintage Vogue with Edgelit borders. Colours are Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo and Chocolate Chip
This one uses the plane from Aint Love Grand and the clouds and birds are from Up, Up and Away  (this IS a stamp set and not an excerpt from the book lol ! )

The Open Sea this time with some Tiny Tags.

Very appropriately we also made a corner bookmark.

Despite England's sad exit the footie is back on the telly tonight so it might be time for an early night with a good book  ; )

Please feel free to let me know if it's worth a read !

Twitterpated

Evening all,

Looks like it's going to be crafting weather again for the weekend- it's been more like October here today, very windy and wet !

Just a quick post tonight to show you a card I made to send to a lovely lady who was interested in becoming a Stampin Up demonstrator..............

It's a DL size card for a change and the papers are from the Twitterpated set. I thought the flower stamp from Everything Eleanor matches these papers perfectly.

Texture and dimension from the ribbon.

The Stampin Up starter kit is now only £99 but includes products to the value of £130 and the best bit is you can now choose whatever you like ! So if you have a fetish for ribbon or paper etc you can feed your addiction lol ! There are also some business supplies included worth £45 so definitely a bargain at £99.  If you would like any more information or to order your starter kit please email me at mrsjuliewade@sky.com and I will gladly help you choose some goodies !!

Right, off now cos Hubby has gone to see Bruce Springsteen tonight ( not my cup of tea) and so I've got the telly remote to myself !!! Think it might be a footie free zone tonight lol !  x

Everything Eleanor

Hiya all, how are we ?

Is it me, or did the football season not finish about a month ago ? If so, why is it that since we got back from holiday it seems to be the only thing on our television ! And to top it all, Hubby informed me tonight that today the fixtures have been announced for next season !!!

Might have a little look later and see if I can plan any shopping trips lol. ( Jules, first match is Leeds away )

Cards today are using Everything Eleanor and some papers from the Attic Boutique set from the Summer Mini...........

Colour combination is Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Daffodil Delight.

These papers are so pretty.

I love Everything Eleanor because every one of the stamps in the set is very versatile.

I also made a mini magazine holder to house the cards.

Hope you like ?  Apparently it's Ireland ( includes a few Wolves players ) v Italy tonight so I'm going to wash my hair !

Back from under the ironing pile !

Hello all,

Sorry I've been a bad blogger but since returning from my holiday I have had a lot of things to catch up with - including sleep lol!!! It's taken a few days but now I think I'm back in the same time zone as you although nights last week varied between 2 hours sleep and 13 hours !

I have also done 11 loads of washing and ironing ( a massive task due to the constant rain ) but have managed to find something to show you. I knew I wouldn't survive a fortnight without crafting so I took on holiday a couple of stamps, 1 inkpad and 2 marker pens and regularly lounged on my sunbed round the pool  'colouring in ' Bliss !

Just a few little penguins ! Think I stayed within the lines but if not I blame the Pina Colada !

Back home I punched these out and turned them into a bag of  toppers as a little pressie for my lovely class ladies............

Like the Mickey ears ? Guess where I got them from ? They were actually confetti from one of the Disney parades but I soon got my girls 'tidying up'  Main Street. Once a crafter ,always a crafter lol !

Isabel also got some hair bobbles and chocolates for some of the girls at school so here are a few of the gifts I decorated in a rainbow of Stampin Up colours

And a cute car aerial topper for her teacher.........

It was good to be back at my Wednesday class this morning so next time I'll show you what we made.

Jubilee !

Hiya all ,

Did you have a good Jubilee weekend ? We had a fantastic time but probably not as traditional as most ! let me show you some piccies...........

The shorts might give it away, but if I say there was not a drop of rain and the temperature was 95 deg F you may guess that we weren't in the good old UK !!!

Although I  (hopefully) scheduled a few posts for you for the last 2 weeks we have been away- about 4500 miles away in fact ! Guess where ?

Okay here's a bigger clue lol........

Yes, we were in sunny Florida and had an amazing time.Over the weekend we had been at the Magic Kingdom with Mickey and friends but as I have fond childhood memories of the Silver Jubilee we decided to go to back to Epcot  so that the girls could experience the flags etc as though we were at home. For those that haven't been to Epcot there are various country themed areas around a large lake and there were a lot of British people celebrating at the UK pavillion.

The Americans were very interested in the Jubilee and the Royal Family but my girls were more impressed with how big One Direction are over there lol ! In one shop we saw 7 different magazines with them on the front cover !

Back to reality now, I have had a nightmare today trying to get some washing dry and we are still struggling a bit with sleep patterns.

I will leave you with the view from our hotel room that we woke up to each morning......

Definitely a Jubilee to remember !

Happy Holiday

Morning all, looking forward to the Bank Holiday ?

More Twitterpated papers this time. I love these papers and they can be used in so many different colour combinations, but I'm  (keeping calm ) and carrying on with the British theme lol !

I know the flag design is not 100% accurate but you get the gist ! Perfect for a June birthday.

Look at that gorgeous new ribbon, very luxurious.

Hope you've enjoyed my British cards and that you enjoy the long weekend whatever you're up to. Back next time to tell you how we spent the Jubilee x
